New Directions

New Directions is a re-entry program in Men’s Minimum Security at the Rhode Island Adult Correctional Institute. The program provides eligible inmates with substance abuse and mental health treatment while incarcerated and at The Providence Center following release.

Services include:

  • Discharge planning
  • Relapse prevention
  • Anger management
  • Substance abuse and mental health education
  • Individual and group counseling
  • Recovery coaching
  • Criminal thinking
  • Life skills

Treatment providers at The Providence Center work with participants to obtain the necessary framework and supports they need to reduce stressors and remain in the community, such as employment, access to community resources and connections to recovery supports such as the Anchor Recovery Community Center.

With guidance and support participants are empowered to use their strengths and resilience to take responsibility for their own recovery, health and wellness.
