Adolescent and Teen Programs

Helping Teens Succeed

Academic pressures, new relationships and influences from friends or family can result in emotions and behaviors that are difficult to manage. When teens feel anxious or stressed, display an lack of self-confidence, act out in aggression or skip school, it could point to a more serious mental health issues.

The Providence Center’s programs for teens ages 12 to 17 offer solutions. Services help teens develop coping skills, manage their emotions and behaviors and improving communication skills. The result is better school performance, positive behaviors and improved relationships with family, friends and teachers.

Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient Programs

When more intense services are needed to treat acute behavioral, emotional or social problems, the partial hospital and intensive outpatient programs allow teens to address issues and focus on learning the skills needed to manage emotions and behaviors.  This program aims to develop and improve skills including:

  • Problem Solving
  • Managing Behavior in Crisis
  • Substance Use Prevention
  • Understanding and Communicating Complex Emotions

Multisystemic Therapy

Multisystemic Therapy services address the complex clinical, social and educational challenges for adolescents who have been court involved, have a history of out-of-home placement and/or exhibit high-risk behavior. MST focuses on the family’s strengths to develop solutions and identity a support network and helps adolescents make positive improvements.

Teen Assertive Community Team (TACT)

Teen Assertive Community Team (TACT) provides case management and support services for teens in the Greater Providence area with co-occurring mental health and substance use needs.  This program offers daily individualized, recovery-focused support for clients age 12-21.  TACT is a child-trained, multi-disciplinary group consisting of a manager, master’s level clinician, case managers, vocational/educational specialist, nurse and psychiatrist.
