The Providence Center helps adults, adolescents, and children affected by psychiatric illnesses, emotional problems, and addictions by providing treatment and supportive services within a community setting. Since 1969, The Providence Center has made recovery possible for Rhode Islanders through over 60 programs and wraparound services that meet each individual’s unique needs for living healthy.
You can change the life of someone in need and make a family’s life healthy and happier. Your tax-deductible donation helps us to provide the best mental health and substance use care for adults, children, and families in our community.
When you give to The Providence Center, you become a partner in our work. With your support, we give people the chance to truly rebuild their lives. Your donations are an investment in improving our community’s health. Every gift makes a direct impact on the adults, children and families we serve. Together, we have made a difference.
It all starts with helping children and families to develop in healthy ways. Our programs provide children with behavioral and emotional problems and their families with the extra support they need to be successful in school or at home.
New initiatives address the ever-changing health needs of the community like the Emergency Services Program created with a specialized team with the skills and expertise in treating children. This critically needed program provides care free of charge to uninsured and underinsured children, frees up already overcrowded hospital emergency rooms, and is less traumatic for the child. Other specialized programs include the Joyce House for homeless veterans and the Police Diversion program, which has a clinician ride along with police to help provide services to people in crisis.
People can and do recover from mental health and substance use issues when they are connected to treatment and supports. Job training, access to primary care, a positive, supportive community—the things that make recovery a reality.

A donor advised fund (DAF), which is like a charitable savings account, gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to The Providence Center Foundation and other qualified charities. You can recommend a grant or recurring grants now to make an immediate impact or use your fund as a tool for future charitable gifts.
There are many meaningful ways to make your generosity go further. Make a gift in honor or memory of a loved one and we will notify the individual or family of your tribute. You may also be able to increase the impact of your gift through an employer matching gift program. Many companies match charitable contributions made by employees and retirees.
