Medical Leadership

Michael A. Silver, MD

Chief Medical Officer

As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Silver provides guidance and direction regarding clinical and legal issues that affect patient care. "I am proud to have served at The Providence Center for over 30 years. Our staff is dedicated and sensitive to the diverse needs of our patients. We offer a variety of programs and resources that allow us to respond to the needs of our diverse patient population. Working with our patients and staff is very rewarding."

Jack Belkin, MD

Psychiatrist

"Good mental health care more and more requires a team effort. I am impressed with the way various departments and teams work at The Providence Center for the benefit of our patients. Together we are able to offer more complete care and address the unique needs of every patient."

Lawrence Price, MD

Psychiatrist

A renowned researcher, Dr. Price has published nearly 450 scientific papers and was identified by the Institute for Scientific Information as one of the top ten authors of high-impact papers in psychiatry from 1990 to 1999. He is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology. He has received numerous awards for his teaching, mentoring, and clinical work, and is editor of the Brown University Psychopharmacology Update, an editor of the scientific journal Psychopharmacology, and editor (with I. Stolerman) of the Encyclopedia of Psychopharmacology, Second Edition

Dr. Price earned a B.S. with high distinction and highest honors in psychology at the University of Michigan, followed by an MD at the same institution. He then completed an internship in internal medicine at Norwalk Hospital in affiliation with Yale University, followed by residency in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale and fellowship at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Mary Santa Teresa, MD

Psychiatrist

In addition to a specialty in Geriatric Psychiatry, Dr. Santa Teresa enjoys working as a community psychiatrist.  "Our team approach is an efficient and comprehensive way to deliver the highest level of care to our patients.  I am inspired by the caring and commitment of the clinical team and staff.  I find that a human connection can make all the difference in the world."

James Greer, MD

Clinical Director of Child and Family Services

Twenty-three years ago, Dr. Greer joined the team at The Providence Center because he wanted to be part of a dedicated staff and an organization committed to patient care. “It is a privilege to work here alongside such talented people who give so much to our patients and each another.” Dr. Greer’s job is complex and juggling so many responsibilities can be challenging but he feels the rewards far outweigh the challenges. “One of my greatest joys is when grown-up former patients come back to visit and thank me for the life-changing services and care they received at TPC. It is remarkable to see how the right services and care can change a child’s life."

Jamil Chaudhry, MD

Pediatric Psychiatrist

Dr. Chaudry decided on career in psychiatry because he wanted to help people with emotional and behavioral problems. "Sometimes it is difficult to see a young child struggling with anxiety or emotional problems, but witnessing the progress of these children is a special experience for me."

Omer Cermik, MD

Psychiatrist

Dr. Cermik works with the nurses, therapists and case managers of the Latino, Emergency Services and RIACT 2A teams to help address each client's unique needs. "I enjoy experiencing the diverse backgrounds of our clients because one of my main interests in psychiatry is the effect of culture on symptom formation."

Usama Feroze, MD

Psychiatrist

Dr. Feroze attended medical school in Pakistan, and upon moving to the United States, completed the Harvard Psychiatry Residency Training Program in Brockton in 2015. He competed his fellowship at George Washington University in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry in July of 2016.

“I try to remain methodical with approaches of treatment, but at the same time recognize the patient’s pathology.  Keeping in mind the patient’s needs and the ethical principles of a good psychiatric practice is essential.”
