Bliss Joins The Providence Center as Director of Government and External Relations

The Providence Center, a community-based behavioral health organization supporting more than 12,000 adults and children with mental health and substance use disorders, named Garrett Bliss as the director of government and external relations.

“We are thrilled to add Garry Bliss to our senior leadership team at TPC,” said Dale Klatzker, President/CEO of The Providence Center. “His experience in Rhode Island will be critically important as we continue to build a health system that meets the needs of Rhode Islanders seeking behavioral health treatment.”

In his new role, Garry will be responsible for managing The Providence Center’s relationships with local, state and federal policymakers, promoting strategies to help TPC achieve its mission of providing high-quality behavioral health and substance abuse services and supports to all who need them.

“I am very pleased to be joining The Providence Center, an organization that’s committed to partnering with policymakers to build a new kind of behavioral health system, one that provides the right care and supports without delay, helps people stay on the road to recovery, and is more cost-effective for all levels of government,” said Bliss.

Prior to joining The Providence Center, Bliss was director of community development and deputy director of planning and development for the City of Providence. Under former Mayor David N. Cicilline, Bliss served as chief of policy and legislative affairs for the City of Providence.
