The Providence Center inducted 10 new members into the Charles E. Maynard Society, a special recognition named in honor of The Providence Center’s founder for donors who have made a significant investment in the organization, at the annual gathering on November 6 at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford, R.I.

Dale K. Klatzker, Ph.D., president/CEO of The Providence Center, welcomed guests, who included past inductees of the Maynard Society. “At The Providence Center, what we do every day is to try to think of more powerful ways to do these three simple things to serve people who have very little in the way of resources,” said Klatzker. “None of this would be possible without you – our donors. You make it possible for us to think outside the box. You also help us to capitalize these new ways of working. You provide support as we ramp up new programs. And, you challenge us to do better.”

Guest speaker at the event was Dr. Alexander Blount, Director of the Center for Integrated Primary Care and Professor of Family Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, and Director of Behavioral Science in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. At the Center for Integrated Primary Care, he has developed training programs in Primary Care Behavioral Health and Integrated Care Management that have trained more than 2,000 people who are at work transforming health care. His books include Integrated Primary Care: The Future of Medical and Mental Health Collaboration, published by W. W. Norton and Knowledge Acquisition, written with James Brule’ and published by McGraw-Hill.

A renowned expert on the field of integrated primary and behavioral health care, Dr. Blount spoke of the history of integrated care and praised The Providence Center’s advanced work to join the two fields of medicine to create an approach to care that is efficient, effective for the patient and cost-effective. “I appreciate coming to a place where the programs that I would recommend to integrate primary and behavioral health care are already in place,” said Dr. Blount. “The Providence Center is on target with what we need in this country for better health care.”

CEM Society members have named The Providence Center as a beneficiary of a planned gift, such as a bequest, trust or retirement plan, or have a cumulative giving history totaling $10,000 or more. New members this year were:
