More than 100 people including health-care providers, professionals who treat addiction and people recovering from alcohol and drug addictions gathered Friday at Roger Williams Medical Center to mark the start of national “Recovery Month.”

The event was the kickoff of the Rally4Recovery planned for Sept. 21, which its leaders say is aimed at overcoming the stigma of addiction and drawing public attention to the need for more community support and services for people in recovery.
