During National Recovery Month, Rhode Island joins our colleagues across the nation in spreading the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and that people can and do recover. Recovery Month highlights individuals who have reclaimed their lives and are living happy and healthy lives in long-term recovery and also honors the prevention, treatment, and recovery service providers who make recovery possible. The recovery-focused activities that are planned throughout the state promote the message that recovery in all its forms is possible, and also encourages citizens to take action to help expand and improve the availability of effective prevention, treatment, and recovery services for those in need.
Rhode Island will open its schedule of activities celebrating National Recovery Month on September 4 with a kick-off celebration at Rhode Island College Main Quad at 10:00 a.m. The state-wide Rally4Recovery will take place on Saturday, September 19 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. The free, family-friendly event features food, national and local speakers, entertainment, information tables, kids’ activities and more.
