The Providence Center received a $5,000 grant from the BJ’s Charitable Foundation. The grant will be used to support Home Base, a program that provides more than 200 chronically homeless people each year with comprehensive primary care, mental health, substance abuse and coordination services. At least a quarter of that number are also provided with permanent supported housing and 10% are veterans. 

“When the chronically homeless have a place to call home and the support they need to improve their lives the outcomes are dramatic,” said Dale K. Klatzker, Ph.D., president/CEO of The Providence Center. “We’re grateful to BJs for helping us to make a difference in the lives of these vulnerable Rhode Islanders.”

“The BJ’s Charitable Foundation is dedicated to supporting hunger prevention, self sufficiency, healthcare and education in the communities surrounding our Clubs,” said Jessica Newman, Executive Director of the BJ’s Charitable Foundation. “BJ’s Charitable Foundation donated a total of $709,625 to 112 nonprofit charitable organizations across our footprint during this grant cycle, and we hope these donations benefit the incredible efforts of our partners working to impact the lives of individuals and families and enable them to continue to provide crucial services to those in need.”
