The Providence Center, a community-based behavioral health organization supporting more than 12,000 adults and children with mental health and substance use disorders, announces and welcomes the following appointments to its board of trustees:
Specializing in the financial services industry for more than 23 years, Thomas Day currently serves as Senior Vice President in the Providence office of Janney Montgomery Scott, LLC and is also a Senior Partner of the Elder, Gardner & Day Group. His mission is to assist clients with planning, implementing, and monitoring financial programs that are directed at their specific goals. Day holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Rhode Island, College of Business Administration, and holds his Series 7, 65 (Registered Investment Advisor) and Rhode Island Insurance licenses. Additionally, Day completed the Accredited Asset Management SpecialistSM Program, a certification program offered by the Harvard Business School, and now holds the AAMSSM designation. Day resides in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
Dr. Renee B. Rulin, M.D., M.P.H., brings over 20 years of experience in family medicine and community health. She is a Board Certified Family Physician and has worked in community health centers as well as private practice. Currently, Dr. Rulin is UnitedHealthcare’s Chief Medical Officer for Rhode Island Medicaid, accountable for all medical management and quality improvement activity. Dr. Rulin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan and Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh. She completed her residency program in Family Medicine at Brown University and holds a Masters of Public Health from Harvard University. Dr. Rulin also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School. She resides in Cranston, Rhode Island.
Alison Bologna is an award-winning journalist, who anchors NBC 10 News and reports with the NBC 10 MoneyWatchers Team, covering business and financial news of the day. Prior to joining NBC 10, Bologna anchored in Boston at Fox 25 News and produced undercover reports for Dateline NBC as one of the network’s youngest producers in New York City. Bologna has covered stories in virtually every part of New England, and several of her investigative reports have resulted in reforms at local and state levels. Bologna has received many honors and awards for her work including an Emmy Award, an Edward R. Murrow Award, two Associated Press Awards, a Gracie Allen Award, an Investigative Reporters and Editors Award, and two Clarion Awards. The Providence Business Journal recently named Bologna one of the “40 Under 40” professionals in the Ocean State, and the National Organization of Italian American Women honored Bologna for her work in television and in the community. Bologna currently serves as a trustee at the Old Slater Mill Museum in Pawtucket, on the board of trustees for the Pawtucket Boys and Girls Club, and is an honorary board member at the Matty Fund. Bologna graduated with honors from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. Presently, she attends Harvard University and is completing a second master’s degree in English and American Literature and Language. In her free time, Bologna enjoys teaching yoga at Shri Studio, a non-profit organization she founded, which provides free yoga outreach programs for adults living with developmental disabilities, veterans, children in schools, shelters and prisons and people in recovery. Bologna resides in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
