"I am so proud of the graduates for the hard work they have put in to achieve this goal,” said Marty Morris, principal. “I commend our staff for their dedication to making sure every student has the opportunity to succeed.”

Graduation is a special moment for these seniors, who have overcome academic and behavioral challenges to make the dream of walking across the stage come true. Students are referred to TPC School from their local school districts to address the symptoms of anxiety, stress, depression, autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorder and other diagnoses that pose difficulties to learning in a traditional environment. TPC School’s special education program combines behavioral supports, academic instruction, therapeutic interventions and family support services. The goal is to equip students with the skills to successfully transition back to their community school, to a less restrictive program, or to graduate from high school. Many TPC School graduates pursue higher education, join the workforce or enroll in fifth-year programs.

Following a brief vacation, TPC School’s summer session kicks-off. The year-round program provides an advantage to students who need the intensive classroom experience to address academic, social and mental health needs. The summer session runs July 6 through August 14.

“The summer session is key to ensuring that our students continue to make progress toward their academic and behavioral goals,” said Julie Simmons, clinical director. “The additional time to focus on social-emotional learning and problem-solving strategies makes a difference in students’ success.”

TPC School serves students from grade pre-k through 12. A multi-disciplinary team works together to cultivate each student’s ability to manage behaviors and emotions in order to be successful learners. Curriculum is based on the Common Core State Standards.
