Residential Care

Residential Care

Recovery is possible when the right supports are in place. Among those is safe, supportive and stable housing where people can continue to develop the skills needed to maintain long-term recovery and healthy, independent living.

The Providence Center offers several options for residential services for clients who qualify for supported housing. Our group homes provide community living options for clients with severe and persistent mental illness. Our residential drug and alcohol treatment programs provide stabilization, education, individual and group treatment and aftercare crucial to the recovery of high-risk adults who may lack stable supports in the community. Recovery housing may be available for individuals in recovery from substance use issues who are eligible.

Our Residential Care Services

Housing

The Providence Center’s group homes provide residential services for adults who have severe and persistent mental illnesses and need 24-hour supervision and assistance to perform adult daily living skills. Some group homes specialize in serving specific individuals such as seniors, veterans or young adults.

The Providence Center’s supervised apartments serve Providence Center clients who are in need of 24-hour supervision but have acquired some basic living skills.

All residents of Providence Center housing receive clinical and rehabilitative services either at The Providence Center or in the community. Off-site nursing and psychiatric services are available.

Recovery/Sober Housing

Safe and stable housing is critical to the success of people in the early stages of recovery. Recovery-based housing offers community living and supportive services that build a foundation for long-term recovery.

Residents receive:

  • Low-rent housing (based on income)
  • Access to 12-Step meetings
  • Access to employment services and case management

Eligibility is determined by successful completion of a Providence Center substance abuse residential services program or other similar services in the Rhode Island community and the individual’s income/ability to pay rent according to Providence Center and HUD guidelines.
